Eric Blair Triumphs At WSOPC Colorado For $116,325
May 7, 2014 12:02 pmEric Blair has won the 2014 World Series of Poker Circuit Lodge Casino Main Event in Colorado, after besting a 330 player field over three days on his way to capturing a gold ring, and collecting the $116,325 first-place prize.
Following his impressive victory Blair now boasts $902,026 in live tournament winnings, and commenting on his experience at the final table, said: “They all played really well. They were tough. No one was giving it away. It was mentally grueling.”
The $1,675 main event was held at The Lodge Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado, and created a prize pool worth $495,000. Amongst the notable pros then cashing in at the event was Joe Kuether in 29th ($3,312), Bernard Lee in 25th ($3,757), Alex Masek in 24th ($4,321), Jesse Capps in 23rd ($4,321), and Tim West in 21st ($5,039).
By the time the final table of nine had been reached, Eric Blair was in the middle of the pack on a medium stack. Blair subsequently gave his chip stack a boost after being dealt pocket kings and eliminating Corey Zedo (6-6) in 5th for $28,967.
A while later, Nicholas Petitti (A-K) called an all-in from Craig Varnell (K-8) and after the dealer put out a 9-8-3-A-4 board, Varnell exited in 3rd for $52,237, thus setting up the final battle between Blair and Petitti for the title.
As the heads-up battle commenced, Blair had a sizable chip lead over his remaining opponent and eventually the defining hand was played after a preflop raising war saw Blair (A-Q) and Petitti (10-10) move all their chips to the centre of the table. The board subsequently rolled out Q-9-3-8-4 to consign Nicholas Petitti to a runner-up finish worth $71,924, while Eric Blair was crowned the champion.
