Elior Sion Wins 2014 UK Poker Championship High Roller

Elior Sion Wins 2014 UK Poker Championship High Roller Elior Sion has triumphed at the 2014 Sky Poker UKPC 6-Max High Roller, after besting a 53 player field over two days on his way to winning the title, and collecting the £55,000 ($91,930) first place prize.
The £3,000 buy-in event was held at the Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) poker club in Nottingham, and the re-entry format saw a total of seven extra re-entries to create a prize pool worth £180,000. The tournament was also attended by some of the most talented players in the game, including Ben “jenbizzle” Jones, Dan “judgedredd13” Charlton, Craig McCorkell, Tom Middleton, Stuart Rutter, Ben Vinson, Mickey Petersen and, of course, high stakes cash specialist Elior Sion.
By the end of Day 1 just 22 players survived and eventually Ben “jenbizzle” Jones would bubble in 8th place guaranteeing the remaining competitors at least £7,000 for their hard-fought efforts. Robert Hallworth would then exit next in 7th thus setting up the final table of six, headed by chip leader Dave Shallow.
Unfortunately for him, Dave Shallow was then the next player to bust in 6th for £9,500, while start-of-the-day chip leader Anthony Nicholls followed suit in 5th for £12,500. Eventually, Elior Sion and WSOP bracelet winner Craig McCorkell would progress all the way through to the heads-up phase of the tournament and after a tough battle Sion would manage to overcome his final opponent to claim the victory.
Interestingly, Elior Sion is more noted as an accomplished cash game specialist and according to HighstakesDB he has won $339,252 on PokerStars playing mainly Texas Holdem and Pot Limit Omaha games under the screen name “Crazy Elior.” With his latest victory at the Dusk Till Dawn club, the UK pro now also boasts $429,562 in live tournament earnings.
Final Table Results:
1 Elior Sion      £55,000
2 Craig McCorkell £35,000
3 Stuart Rutter      £25,000
4 Daniel Rudd      £18,000
5 Andy Nicholls   £12,500
6 Dave Shallow      £9,500
