Daniel Weinman Wins $992k WPT Event in Atlantic City

Daniel Weinman has won the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open $3,500 Main Event, after besting a field of 1,312 players over six days on his way to claiming the prestigious title, as well as its huge $892,433 first place prize.
Furthermore, the Georgia pro scored his famous victory on his 29th birthday, and as well as pushing his career earnings to $2,218,710, Weinman was also gifted a $15,000 ticket to the WPT Tournament of Champions scheduled to take place at the end of the season.

The Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event was held in Atlantic City, and featured a prize pool of $4,199,712. Amongst the recognizable pros seeing a return on their buy-ins was John Racener in 46th ($11,927), Olivier Busquet in 33rd ($15,749), Shaun Deeb in 27th ($18,605), Asher Conniff in 21st ($18,605), Anthony Gregg in 14th ($33,598), and Blake Bohn in 8th ($104,993).

Nathan Bjerno then entered the final table of six as the chip leader on a 12.4m stack, while Weinman was in 5th place with less than half his chips. Weinman (A-A) subsequently eliminated Richard Foster (K-K) in 5th, while Tyler Kenney took care of Nicholas Immekus in 6th, and Jia Liu in 4th. However, Kenney’s run ended in 3rd after his K-9 all-in bluff on a 8-5-4-10-3 was called by Weinman holding 9-5, thus leaving Weinman and Nathan Bjerno to duke it out for the title.

At this stage, Weinman held a more than 6-1 chip advantage over his remaining opponent, but over 50 hands would then be played before the deciding hand was played with Bjerno all-in preflop holding A-4. Weinman made the call with A-5, and while the A-8-6-7-4 board which ensued provided Bjerno with a pair, it ultimately consigned him to runner-up finish worth $524,964 as Daniel Weinman had made a straight, and was therefore crowned the champion.

Final Table Results

1: Daniel Weinman $892,433
2: Nathan Bjerno $524,964
3: Tyler Kenney $327,578
4: Jia Liu $275,081
5: Richard Foster $228,787
6: Nicholas Immekus $184,787
