Phil Ivey Crashes Out Of 2015 WSOP After Zero Cashes

Phil Ivey Crashes Out Of 2015 WSOP After Zero Cashes10-times WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey was late to show up to the 2015 World Series of Poker, with the first tournament he entered having been the $111,111 One Drop High Roller (Event #61:), which he was eventually eliminated from five places short of the money. The 39-year old poker legend’s next and final tournament was the prestigious WSOP Main Event, but after making it through to Day 2C, Ivey has crashed out of that tournament, too, thus ending his chances of adding another accolade to his bracelet tally at this year’s WSOP in Vegas.
So ends a rather disappointing WSOP for Ivey, who produced no cashes from the meager two tournaments in which he participated. Going into the showcase tournament series on Day 33, Ivey had explained:
“Of course I care about bracelets. But you know, sometimes there are games elsewhere in the world and duty calls.”
Ivey’s only tweet from the 2015 WSOP was then an announcement of his imminent arrival on June 28th, stating: “Headed to the #OneDrop. Nice to be back in #Vegas and playing at the #WSOP”
In Ivey’s final hand of the Main Event, the pro had seen his chip stack dwindle before finally 3-bet shoving his remaining 12,000 chips holding pocket nines, only to be called by Mario Sanchez with pocket Kings. There was then to be no last minute reprieve for Ivey, who was subsequently ousted from the competition well short of the money.
More than half way through the year, Phil Ivey has thus far earned $1,742,459 from two live tournament cashes, including in January finishing the APPT A$10,600 Aussie Millions Poker Championship in 23rd for US$31,605, and in February winning the A$250,000 Aussie Millions LK Boutique Challenge for US$1,710,854. Online hasn’t been going so well for Phil “Polarizing” Ivey, though, and he is currently down -$1,227,809 on Full Tilt in 2015, having dropped -$2,372,298 last year on the site, and -$2,441,773 in 2013. Likewise, Phil “RaiseOnce” Ivey has lost -$953,315 at PokerStars in 2015.
