CA State Poker Championship 2010 Won By Patrick Karschamroon
May 26, 2010 7:59 amPatrick Karschamroon has won the California State Poker Championship 2010, after defeating a field of 175 players to take down the title and the $162,970 first place prize.
The 28 year old from Los Angeles turned pro five years ago, during which time his highest live tournament cash was in Aug 2009, when he won the WPT Legends of Poker Event for a pay-out of $31,400. With his latest victory, Patrick Karschamroon now takes his live tournament earnings to $231,461 and clearly exhilarated after his success at the CA State Poker Championship, commented:
“I’ve been playing poker with my family for nickels and dimes since I was seven years old. I love what I do. For me, poker is the greatest job in the world.”
As the final table play got underway at the $3,085 buy-in main event, Karschamroon knew he had a difficult job ahead if he was to beat a tough table, which included such players as Gavin Griffin, “Miami,” John Cernuto, and several top internet pros. Eventually Karschamroon’s patience and aggression paid off as Cernuto was eliminated in fourth ($40,740) and early chip leader Gavin Griffin exited in third ($56,020).
After a brief heads-up battle against Lenny Tam, Karschamroon brought the three-week long series at the Commerce casino to a successful conclusion, after sending Tam to the rails in the runner-up spot ($86,570) and taking home his biggest score to date and a massive boost to his bankroll of $162,970.
Commenting later on Karschamroon’s victory, tournament director Matt Savage said; “Congratulations to Patrick Karschamroon on claiming the title of Cal State Champion in convincing style at one of the Commerce Casino’s showcase events.”
The world’s largest poker casino will now hold its next major tournament series, called the Commerce Hold’em Series, from September 9-26th.
