Bruno "Kool Shen" Lopes Wins 2016 SISMIX Marrakech

The 2016 Winamax SISMIX was held at the Casino de Marrakech in Morocco, with a huge 901 players paying the roughly $615 buy-in to create a prize pool worth $481,837. Five days of action later, and it was French rapper Bruno “Kool Shen” Lopes who would eventually triumph over the field to capture a third career title, as well as a first place prize of $967,116. Following an impressive victory which pushes his life time tournament earnings to $967,116, the Winamax Team Pro said:
“I’ve been lucky to learn and grow as part of one of the best Teams in the world, with people who help me improve every day.”
After the last table of six had been reached, Aurélien Guiglini (A-Q) eliminated Karim Benmarouche (A-J) in 6th (€14,747), before Bruno Lopes (Q-Q) did likewise to Grégory Cometto (A-J) in 5th for €19,355. Lopes then took care of Aurélien Guiglini in 4th (€25,346), and Sébastien Comte in 3rd (€34,562) to go heads-up against Alexis Fleur for the title.
As the final battle commenced, Fleur had two-thirds of the chips left in play, but his fortunes turned around after his pocket kings fell to the pocket fours of Lopes. Fleur had further bad luck when his A-7 lost to the A-4 of his opponent, and in the end he had to settle for a runner-up finish worth €53,917, while Lopes was crowned champion.
Bruno “Kool Shen” Lopes even borrowed the jacket of his teammate Guillaume Diaz for good luck during the last two days of the tournament, and as he later commented: “I stole it from him yesterday.. he’s been running so well recently that I thought maybe it would give me some help too.”
