Brian Arbaugh Wins MSPT Jacksonville For $102,806

Brian Arbaugh Wins MSPT Jacksonville For $102,806The Mid-States Poker Tour Jacksonville attracted 421 competitors to sunny Florida last weekend, and after two days of action, including a grueling 14 hours of play on Day 2, it was Brian Arbaugh who finished atop the field to collect the $102,806 first-place prize.
The $1,100 Main Event created a prize pool worth $402,370, and amongst the notable players subsequently seeing a return on their investment was Judd Greenagel in 27th ($2,495), and Patrick Steele in 20th ($2,495). The 2004 WSOP Main Event champ Greg Raymer then headed the final table, but was the first to exit in 9th for $8,047, with his nemesis Toby Boas also eliminating Wil Augenstein in 8th for $11,669.
Jeff Klein (A-J) then got lucky to send Toby Boas (A-Q) to the rail in 4th ($29,172), and after Klein (A-J) also knocked-out Tim Forsberg (Q-Q) in 3rd ($36,213), the heads-ups battle was set between Jeff Klein and Brian Arbaugh for the title.
As the final battle got underway, Jeff Klein held a roughly 3-1 chip lead over his remaining opponent, but Arbaugh (A-10) soon managed a double-up against Klein’s K-Q, before receiving a further pay-off on his flush by Klein with a straight. Just two hands later and the deciding hand was then played after Arbaugh hit an ace against his opponent’s second pair to relegate Jeff Klein to a runner-up finish worth $59,350. Meanwhile, Brian Arbaugh claimed the title and the $102,806 top prize, in the process pushing his live career earnings to $166,836.
