Blake Bohn Wins Second MSPT Title In Iowa For $101,229

Blake Bohn Wins Second MSPT Title In Iowa For $101,229Blake Bohn has won the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Meskwaki Casino in Iowa, after besting a field of 410 players over two days on his way to capturing the title, and collecting its $101,229 first place prize. Since being established in 2009, the MSPT has steadily increased in popularity, and in May 2013 Blake Bohn was recruited to become the first member of the tour’s Pro Team. As MSPT president Bryan Mileski commented at the time:
“Blake is one of the hardest-working players in the industry. He has the perfect combination of skill, drive, dedication and fearlessness.”
The following year, Bohn subsequently won the $1,100 MSPT Sioux Falls Main Event for $54,607, with his latest victory in Iowa representing his second career MSPT title. Recently, Bohn even finished the 2015 WSOP Main Event in 23rd place for a $262,574 payday, and in total the pro has amassed $2,342,339 from live tournaments since his first cash in 2005.
The $1,100 MSPT main event created a prize pool worth $396,200, and amongst the notable players then seeing a return on their buy-ins was Tom Hammers in 44th ($1,981), David Gutfreund in 27th ($2,456), Mark Sandness in 15th ($3,962), and Angelina Rich in 11th place ($5,151).
At the final table, Blake Bohn (K-J) then eliminated Ryan Delorme (Q-Q) in 7th, before being dealt 10-10 and scoring a double elimination of Jim Boone (A-9) in 6th, and David Gonia (A-Q) in 5th. After Bohn (A-J) polished off a short-stacked Greg Gates (J-3) in third the final battle was set between Blake Bohn and Justin Thurlow for the title. A few hands is all it would then take before Blake Bohn (Q-9) eliminated Thurlow (J-9), too, to secure his remarkable victory.
Final Table Results:
1 Blake Bohn $101,229
2 Justin Thurlow $58,442
3 Greg Gates $35,658
4 Peixin Liu $28,725
5 David Gonia $22,583
6 Jim Boone $18,820
7 Ryan Delorme $15,056
8 James Wilson $11,490
