Blake Bohn Wins Chicago Poker Classic For $288k
March 6, 2013 11:27 amBlake Bohn has won the 2013 Chicago Poker Classic, after defeating a field of 392 players over four days on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the $288,171 top prize.
After taking down his biggest score to date, Blake Bohn now takes his live career earnings to $686,565. Following his impressive victory, Bohn commented: “It feels great. I work really hard at it. It’s really exciting to run deep. That’s why we put in so many hours, to have a victory like this.”
Day 1 of the $3,200 buy-in event saw the 392 strong field reduced to 190 players, and by the end of Day 2 just 36 contenders remained. Starting Day 3, Blake Bohn was one of the shortest stacks in the competition and by the end of the day managed to grind his way to a seat at the final table, albeit in 8th spot out of the nine finalists.
Amongst the notable names cashing in at the competition, but falling short of a final table appearance, was Aaron Massey in 32nd ($7,985), Ping Liu in 24th ($10,158), Ty Reiman in 16th ($13,184), Hiren “Sunny” Patel in 15th ($17,206), Bell in 11th ($22,754) and Ravi Raghavan in 10th ($22,754).
Despite Blake Bohn starting the final table as a short stack, a little over five hours is all it would then take before he made it all the way through to heads-up play. Eventually, Bohn (5-2) would bounce his opponent Shiva Dudani (J-7) from the tournament after hitting two pair on a J-5-2 flop and enticing Dudani to raise him all-in. Bohn quickly made the call and after a Q and 9 fell on the turn and river, Shiva Dudani had to settle for a runner-up finish worth $178,091, while Blake Bohn was crowned the Chicago Poker Classic champion.
The final table payouts were as follows:
1 Blake Bohn $288,171
2 Shiva Dudani $178,091
3 Daniel Perper $117,370
4 Ki Lee $82,165
5 Niel Mittelman $60,889
6 Tony Hartmann $47,621
7 Stephen Jones $39,192
8 Ralph Massey $33,860
9 James Snyder $30,642
