Andy Robl Wins A Million In Oz

Andy Robl has won the 2013 Aussie Millions $100,000 re-entry event, after defeating a 22 player field over two days to lift the title, and collect the $1,000,000 first-place prize.
However, Robl almost decided to call it quits after being the first player eliminated on Day 1, and as he explains: “I was a little bit upset and the last thing I wanted to do was sit there and grind a poker tournament. I went and had dinner with my girlfriend and started feeling better and decided to come give it another shot.”
That proved to be a fortunate decision and now with his latest victory in Melbourne, the young US pro takes his life time earnings to an impressive $3,423,969.
On the final day of the $100,000 Challenge, seven players returned to the action with just four places being paid. The unlucky players falling short of a cash included Tobias Reinkemeier in 7th, Vanessa Selbst in 6th and Niklas Heinecker in 5th. The least any of the remaining competitors could then expect to receive was $237,000 and 2 and a half hours later Dan Shak walked away with that amount after being eliminated by Robl.
Soon after, Andy Robl (J-10) called Masa Kagawa’s (K-10) all-in on a 10-7-8 flop only to then hit a straight on the 9 turn to dispatch the Japanese player to the rail in 3rd for $320,000. As heads-up got underway, Robl held a huge 10 to 1 chip advantage over Igor Kurganov and before long it was all over when the Russian (4-3) was all-in with two pair on a 9-2-4-3 board only for Robl to flip over A-3 for the straight.
