New PokerStars CEO Named As Gabi Campos
July 20, 2010 11:21 amFollowing his departure as managing director of 888’s business-to-business arm Dragonfish in order “to pursue new challenges,” Gabi Campos has now been named as the new chief executive officer at PokerStars.com.Campos is due to take up his new position on the 4th October, but in the meantime will be undertaking non-operational consultant duties, that will see him travel to PokerStars Isle of Man and Costa Rica offices over the next few weeks.
Poker Stars was founded by Isai Scheinberg in 2001 and the Israeli family still continue to operate the company as a close knit operation. Chief technical officer Isai and son company chairman Mark Scheinberg have signalled their intention to remain involved in the strategic direction of PokerStars, but were very much looking forward to welcoming Campos on board.
Commenting on the appointment of Gabi Campos as PokerStars new CEO, Mark Scheinberg, as reported in eGaming Review, said:
“We are excited about this new chapter in the PokerStars story, and look forward to Gabi’s leadership in taking the company forward to continued success.”
Last year under his management, Campos was able to significantly contribute to the growth in Dragonfish’s and 888 Holdings’ overall operating income and is now looking to extending his golden touch to the world biggest online poker site.
Prior to his working at Dragonfish, Campos has served in Israel’s Military Intelligence, was a Software Team Leader at Amdocs Israel, and a Managing Director of Avaya Israel.
