Lock Poker Farce Continues With Surprise Network Migration
October 31, 2013 3:11 pmLock Poker customers got quite a surprise yesterday when players trying to enter the poker room found themselves temporarily locked out of their accounts before later being told to visit Lock Poker’s website and download the site’s new software.
Incredibly, the troubling incident occurred because Lock Poker had decided to move its operation from the Revolution Gaming Network to its own new proprietary platform, but opted against notifying its customers in advance of the migration.
As to the reason for its decision to shift networks, Lock Poker cited “numerous and ongoing breaches of contract by the current network operator,”a claim which was subsequently disputed by Revolution Gaming.
If the situation was not confusing enough, Revolution Gaming then took the extraordinary step of redirecting those uninformed Lock Poker customers trying to launch Lock’s old client to another website called Pure Poker, with the following message:
“Due to Lock’s ongoing financial issues, the poker service to Lock was terminated. We apologize for the inconvenience. Pure Poker is offering you a chance to redeem your Lock player balance immediately. Sign up with your Lock player email here. Go here to learn how to redeem your balance and create a ticket for more details. Pure Poker has been operating with integrity for 14 years, catering to niche players globally. In addition to playing with the same proven software, we offer faster payouts and immediate access to a Sportsbook.”
Not surprisingly, the troubled online poker room took exception to the move, accusing Revolution Gaming of attempting to acquire Lock players deceptively and damage its business. Consequently, Lock has since threatened to initiate legal proceedings against both Pure Poker and the Revolution Gaming Network, whilst pointing out to its customers that “The only way to migrate your Lock balance, points and bonuses is to click on the download link in this email and then MIGRATE ACCOUNT once you launch the new software.”
The latest farcical incident is just one in a long line of woes which has beset the beleaguered poker room recently, including excruciatingly slow cash outs, and a number of high-profile sponsored pros abandoning the site.
