Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom Wins $1.14M in June
July 6, 2017 9:52 amWhile Las Vegas has been buzzing for a month and a half as players from all around the world compete for coveted WSOP bracelets, Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom has once again shunned the annual tournament poker extravaganza in favor of the high-stakes online cash game action taking place on PokerStars. The 26 year-old Swede’s decision appears to have been a shrewd one, too, as he was the site’s biggest online winner in June , having racked up $1,142,745 in winnings over 38,038 hands played.
Rather than having relieved a number of opponents of their bankrolls, though, Blom managed to accumulate the huge amount mostly at the expense of a single player, namely “RaulGonzalez” who lost a little over $1 million to Blom at $1,000/$2,000 8-Game near the end of last month. On June 21, Blom was also involved in the biggest pot of the month worth $155,438 during a session of PLO, this time against “ubersherms”, which the Swede also won.

While Blom has since suffered a slight dip in July so far, the high-stakes pro is still showing a healthy profit of $1,587,403 for 2017 so far, and $3,098,574 since first playing on PokerStars back in February of 2011. Interestingly, while known for his no-limit Texas hold ’em expertise, these days tracking site highstakesdb lists Blom’s most played game as Omaha PL.
Back to the WSOP, Blom started missing the Series back in 2014 during the FIFA World Cup, and has kept the tradition going ever since. As well as avoiding the heat of Las Vegas during the summer time, this time of year also affords him the opportunity to take advantage of the online cash game scene while some of the game’s toughest online opponents are putting in countless hours grinding the live WSOP tournament scene.
