Viktor Blom Up $1.64m, Gus Hansen Down $1.2m In 2014

Viktor Blom Up $1.64m, Gus Hansen Down $1.2m In 2014With the first month of 2014 drawing to a close, high-stakes Swedish pro Viktor “Isildur1” Blom has gotten off to an impressive start and is already showing a profit of $1,638,053 over 47,303 hands played. Early on in January, Blom had sunk to a $640k deficit before going on a $2.3 million upswing to finish Full Tilt Poker’s biggest winner for the last two weeks consecutively.
At his latest winning session on Tuesday, Viktor Blom continued his assault at Full Tilt’s virtual tables by adding $300k to his bankroll, having played a 2.5 hour $2k/$4k FLO8 heads-up match against SallyWoo. During their fierce encounter, “Isildur1” dominated the match and although SallyWoo went on an $85k upswing, Blom managed to secure two of the biggest pots on the night of $60k and $56k to leave the game a big winner.
At this early stage of the week, the ten biggest winners online so far line up as follows:
Isildur1 – $300,424
OtB_RedBaron – $129,112
Crazy Elior – $86,703
JLlama – $77,861
LewisFriend – $71,608
Bttech86 – $69,565
Lottenice – $58,505
HC_68 – $54,151
no_Ola – $47,546
Ilari FIN – $41,693
Incredibly, Full Tilt Poker seems to have covered both extremities of the poker playing spectrum, and whereas Viktor “Isildur1” Blom continues being one of the top winningest players online, Full Tilt’s other official ambassadors, Gus Hansen, seems to be flying the flag for poker losers everywhere, which according to various estimates accounts for around 90% of players.
Ironically, Hansen got off to a decent start at the beginning of January and was up by almost $200k before subsequently sinking into the red to the tune of -$1,194,032. As one online poster commented after Hansen highlighted his winning start to the year:
Gus Hansen: “Good start in 2014 – planning to keep it up :-)”
CollinCapone: “Did you take the first few days off?”
Now, finding out about Gus Hansen’s latest losses has become a cathartic experience for poker players in general, and as one online commenter put it; “It’s always fun hearing about Gus having another big loss.”
