UK Pro Sam Trickett Assaulted In Las Vegas
July 5, 2012 11:26 amSam Trickett was the UK’s biggest poker tournament winner, even before coming 2nd at this week’s WSOP ‘The Big One For One Drop,’ for a staggering $10,112,001.
Following his incredible success in the $1 million buy-in tournament the 26 year old quite naturally decided to hit the bright lights of Las Vegas with his girlfriend of seven years Natasha Sandhu and celebrate, tweeting at the time:
“Thank you everyone 4 ur support, ur all legends! Time to go drink until my organs hurt.”
Unfortunately for Trickett, it was more than his organs which were in pain after his night on the town after being assaulted by six men on his way out of a club. Posting a photo of his bruised and grazed face on twitter, Sam Trickett wrote:
“Was having a great day until 6 guys did this to me. Seriously Wtf? Couldn’t be more angry… #cowards.”
“Is this what happens if ur successful? literally beat the shit out of me and spat in @NatashaSandhu face all over nothing.”
According to Trickett’s post and a later clarification by his girlfriend, it appears the incident was not a mugging but may have been the result of an argument, although no more details have been forthcoming.
After his post, friends and fellow pros expressed their condolences on his twitter page, with none more sympathetic than top US pro Jason Mercier who had a similar experience in 2008. On that occasion Mercier had just won the EPT San Remo for $1.3 million and was celebrating inside an Italian club when he was stabbed.
“@Samtrickett1 been there before brother. Sorry to hear that happened #justbadluck obv,” tweeted Mercier.
Thankfully, Sam Trickett’s injuries seem superficial and his girlfriend did her best to reassure everyone he was fine.
“Been a long day… Back to celebrating tomorrow! Night all,”tweeted Natasha Sandhu.
