UK Poker Star Chris Moorman Joins 888poker

Chris Moorman was snapped up by Doyle Brunson to represent DoylesRoom back in 2009, but unfortunately the site was subsequently shut down in 2011 after being seized in connection with the Black-Friday investigations. Over the ensuing years the world’s most successful online tournament player has stayed remarkably free from sponsorship deals, without even PokerStars taking the opportunity to add the UK player to its huge roster.
What is PokerStars’ loss has now become 888poker’s gain after it was announced yesterday that the 30 year-old pro has now been signed as a member of the world’s second-largest online poker room. Following the news, Moorman commented:
“888 is doing big things and really is working hard to expand their reach in poker. Things like sponsoring the WSOP and the Super High Roller Bowl have shown they are committed to their growth of the brand and I can’t wait to see what they have coming up in the future.”
Over his impressive career, Moorman has amassed an incredible $13,379,398 playing online tournaments under the screen name Moorman1, half of which has been won on PokerStars. He has also picked up a record-breaking 25 PocketFives Triple Crowns along the way. Moorman doesn’t seem to have entered a huge amount of live tournaments, though, aside from the WSOP, but has nevertheless still managed to make waves on the live circuit having won $4,109,169, including finishing runner-up at the 2011 WSOP Europe Main Event for €800,000 ($1,068,690), and winning the 2014 WPT LA Poker Classic Main Event title for $1,015,460.
Chris Moorman now joins a talented group of sponsored players at 888poker, which includes Jeff Gross, Dominik Nitsche, Kara Scott, and Sofia Lovgren. Heaping praise on his fellow teammates, Moorman said:
“They are all great players and ambassadors of the game. Also they all gave such a warm welcome to the team and I am excited to represent the site alongside them. Dominik is one of the best players in the world; to have won 3 bracelets at his age is an incredible achievement. I’ve known Kara for a long time and [she] does an incredible job presenting and is a great poker player as well.”
