UK Poker Prodigy Paul Foltyn Joins FeltStars
June 14, 2012 12:55 pmIt has just been announced that UK pro Paul Foltyn has become the latest player to be sponsored by the Merge Network poker site FeltStars. Without a doubt the addition of Foltyn will be a major boon for the poker room as the 28 year old is ranked by PocketFives as the UK’s 7th most winningest online player with $3,950,359 in earnings.
In addition, Foltyn is no slouch in the live arena, either, and already has $636,290 in tournament cashes to his name, as well as two major titles. These include a 2008 win at the £3k GUKPT Grand Final London for £167,050 ($250,615), and in 2010 victory at the £1k GUKPT Brighton for £46,400 ($73,367). Recalling his first GUKPT win, Foltyn commented:
“The final was stacked with good players but I think I still had more final table experience than anyone else there due the high volume I play online. I was very aware of changing stack sizes and dynamics than others and my experience from a few years ago meant I was fully relaxed and focused this time and able to play my best poker. As in any tournament I got lucky at the right times and was able to take it down.”
Paul “Pab” Foltyn said he first got into the game he loves so well, after catching a few episodes of the iconic UK television series called Late Night Poker. Not long after he started playing home games with his friends before then turning his attention to online poker, whilst all the while studying for a degree at university. After completing his studies, Foltyn said he was intending to use his degree to embark on a career but, as he explains:
“I had some time at home over Christmas and played online a little bit and was lucky enough to get a few wins including a big tournament for $10,000. After that I never looked back and started playing all the time with a great amount of success and then in my first visit to Vegas for the WSOP in 2006 I final tabled a $5k buy in event [for $83,402] and after that I realized this is what I was going to be doing for some time.”
Congratulations to Paul Foltyn on his latest sponsorship deal at FeltStars, and we wish him all the luck for the future.
