Tweets From the Inaugural Global Poker League

The Global Poker League finally got underway this week, with the innovative new format designed to sportify poker and bring the game to a whole new generation of fans. Commenting on his vision for the GPL, its creator, Alex Dreyfus stated:
“While there is a huge existing fan base for poker, it is largely fragmented because of the isolated nature of existing poker initiatives. GPL has an aggressive vision to build new storylines and narratives to engage poker fans with the poker stars playing in the league.”
The GPL’s 12 teams have now subsequently competed in the first of their series of matches, with Phase 1 starting on April 5th and running until September 22nd, and Phase 2 between June 8th and July 8th, while the GPL Playoffs (TBA), and GPL Finals (November 22/23) will take place post-summer.
