While PokerStars recently announced the departure of one of Brazil’s top players, Felipe Ramos, from the site’s roster of sponsored pros, partypoker, in the meantime, has been bolstering its contingent of pros from the country. This week it subsequently signed three Brazilians to its newly created Team Online, namely Renato Nomura, Lui Martins and Day Kotoviezy.
Heading the recruits in terms of live winnings is Renato Nomura, who is currently ranked his country’s 120th most successful live tournament player with $211,503 in winnings, as well as a further $893,717 won online under the screen name Renaton. Commenting on his new sponsorship deal, Renato Nomura stated:
“I am really looking forward to representing the partypoker brand. There’s a lot of great players in our country and competition is pretty fierce so I am thrilled to have been chosen to join the new online team.”
Meanwhile, Lui Martins is a former World of Warcraft specialist turned poker pro who now boasts $508,337 in online winnings. Martins has also enjoyed success in the live arena, too, and in 2016 finished the WSOP International Circuit São Paulo Main Event in 4th place for a $79,457 payday.
Finally, Dayane de Fatima Kotoviezy (photo) completes the line up of new Brazilians joining PartyPoker, with the female poker pro a coach at Brazil’s Massari Poker School, as well as having secured a BSOP Ladies Event title last year.
PartyPoker’s number of sponsored pros from Brazil now soars to six once one includes its already sponsored ambassadors of Joao Simao, Luiza Simao and Bruno Gagliasso. Commenting upon its latest batch of representatives, partypoker Managing Director Tom Waters stated:
“The recruitment of Renato, Josip, Lui and Day has got Team Online off to a really great start. These are players who have a true passion for the game and I know they will be amazing ambassadors for partypoker wherever they play.”
PartyPoker also announced the signing of Austria’s Josip Simunic to its team, with the pro having amassed $1,301,932 in live winnings since 2009, with his biggest score coming in 2015 after taking down the EPT Deauville High Roller for €309,170 ($353,976).
