Stunning Xuan Liu Join 888poker Team Pro
April 17, 2014 12:40 pmNot only is 888poker occupying online poker’s second highest spot with an average of 2,300 cash game players, but the site is also busy adding to its roster of sponsored pros a bevy of young, attractive poker starlets, including latest additions Canada’s Xuan Liu and Sweden’s Sofia Lovgren.
The duo now join Australia Poker Hall of Famer Jackie Glazier and USA’s Jessica Dawley as part of Team 888poker, with 888poker subsequently issuing a statement commenting that it was “extremely proud and excited to welcome both women to the team.”
Originally, Xuan Liu was a cash game player before making the transition over to live poker tournaments. It was then at the end of 2010 that poker enthusiasts first began to take note of Xuan Liu after she won the €1,100 IPT San Remo for €48,000 ($64,376). Over the ensuing years her biggest scores have included a 3rd place finish at the 2011 EPT San Remo for $524,705, and her biggest haul a 4th place finish at the 2012 PCA Main Event for $600,000. Xuan Liu is now considered to be one of the game’s most respected and feared female players having notched up $1,400,834 in winnings since 2010.
Commenting on what it means to be a female pro in a male-dominated game, Xuan Liu, explained: “If you want to be playing in the highest level tournaments in the world, you can’t just expect batting eyelashes to get you by. I have a lot of respect for females who understand this. At the same time, I believe utilising the element of attraction can also be a great tool to have in one’s arsenal.”
Sweden’s Sofia “welllbet” Lövgren also joins the site, and despite being a mid-stakes cash game grinder, she, too, has diversified into live tournament play and has won $129,436 on the live circuit since 2010. Lövgren, Xuan Liu, and other members of Team 888poker will now represent the site at various top poker tournaments across the world, and as Lövgren, explains:
“I will play EPT, WPT and WSOP this year. In Vegas I think I’ll play around 9 WSOP events including the Main Event. There are also four 888 Live events in different destinations and I really look forward to playing poker in Australia for the first time – the WSOP Melbourne in October will be fun!”
