Sam Trickett Gets Own Dusk Until Dawn Poker Room

Following in the footsteps of such poker legends as Phil Ivey and Bobby Baldwin, the UK’s all-time most successful tournament player with $19,877,332 in live earnings, Sam Trickett, has just been honoured with his very own poker room at the Dusk Until Dawn gambling casino in his native Nottinghamshire.
The card room boasts a bespoke wooden wall that partitions off the elegant space from the main casino floor and creates total privacy for the guests. Describing their design, Kirsty-Marie McGowan and Alex Ottewell said that they drew “inspiration from the 1970’s Vegas scene and the swanky, glamorous 60’s Mad Men style, to come up with a space oozing with masculine elegance.”
Even before Sam Trickett, 27, entered the WSOP $1m buy-in ‘The Big One for One Drop’ event in 2012, and finished the runner-up for a staggering $10,112,001 payday, Trickett was already considered one of the best players in the world. At the British Poker Awards in 2010, for instance, Trickett received the UK’s Best New Player award, followed a year later by the UK’s Best Cash Player award, before in 2012 being voted the UK’s Best Cash Player, Best Tournament Player and Player of the Year.
Sam Trickett’s record in both tournament and cash games speaks volumes as to versatility of the player, and the UK pro is also a regular in the Macau Big Game where his biggest ever winning session apparently netted him HKD $15 million ($1.93m). Nevertheless, even those poker players at the very pinnacle of their professions have often had to endure challenging times and in 2009 Trickett went broke, explaining later:
“Yes, in 2009. I dusted off a £150k bankroll in the space of a few months, which left me flat broke and unable to play without backing. It was caused from playing in high stakes PLO games when I was still learning the game and I had a bad habit playing roulette and blackjack which is where I lost a lot as well.”
