PokerStars Pros Welcome Jude Ainsworth To Team

Jude Ainsworth has just made a little piece of history after becoming the first Irish player to sign with online poker goliath, PokerStars. Without a doubt, Ainsworth is a class act and has already amassed over $1.5 million in career poker wins including a 1st place finish at the 2008 PartyPoker Irish Poker Championships for $268,000 (€180,000).

However, its online that the Ainsworth has really made a name for himself, not least by winning the $10,300 PokerStars’ 2009 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) where he overcame a field of 501 players to take down the first prize of $963,338.
PokerStars recently introduced UKIPT (UK & Ireland Poker Tour) as a series of nine live poker tournaments which will get underway starting on December 11th in Galway. As a Team PokerStars Pros, Ainsworth will be representing the poker site at these events and commenting on the latest deal he said:
“I’m really looking forward to competing in the UKIPT and being part of such an exciting tour. Undoubtedly the event I’m looking forward to is the return to my hometown Galway.”
Commenting on his successes at large field tournaments, Ainsworth explained his approach to these competitions by saying: “Never let yourself get too low in chips, either double up or get knocked out. I think to be a winning player you have to find the right balance between playing tight and aggressive. A lot of losing players would fall into the category of been either way too tight or just crazy aggressive. Yes you need gamble to win tournaments but timing is essential, “fortune favours the brave.”
Jude Ainsworth now joins Vicky Coren and John Duthie in the UKIPT PokerStars line up and explained that his ambitions over the next few years also include winning an EPT and a WSOP title.
