Patrik Antonius Now Promotes International Stadiums Poker Tour
September 7, 2012 1:43 pmThe International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) is sheduled to get underway at London Wembley Stadium on May 31st, 2013, with 30,000 competitors expected to generate a massive prize pool worth €20 million.
Ahead of the inaugural event, organizer Groupe Bernard Tapie has been busy signing a slew of poker celebrities to act as official ISPT ambassadors and help promote the tournament. The first representative was named at the end of July as Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, followed by UK pro Sam Trickett in August and Liz Lieu only a few days ago.
Now, Finnish high-stakes pro Patrik Antonius has become the latest big name poker pro to be associated with the International Stadiums Poker Tour, with an announcement on the ISPT website noting:
“Always looking for new and exciting experiences, Patrick Antonius was immediately attracted by the concept of ISPT. The Finnish player wore an ISPT logo during the final of the Partouche Poker Tour that takes place in Cannes form September 3rd to September 9th 2012.”
The ISPT twitter page has also posted a photo of Antonius sporting an ISPT logo, alongside ISPT chief executive and co-creater of the ISPT Production Company, Prosper Masquelier, and official ISPT ambassador Liz Lieu. However, the twitter page doesn’t specifically name Patrik Antonius as an official ambassador, unlike its other signings, so its possible Antonius may simply be involved in just a bit of extra promotion for the historic tournament.
Nevertheless, the 31 year-old from Helsinki will almost certainly be involed in Europe’s biggest ever live tournament next year. Despite being a high-stakes cash game specialist, Patrik Antonius also has a very impressive tournament record with $5,328,711 in earnings, his biggest cash coming in 2012 at the $250k Aussie Millions Poker Championship, where he placed 2nd for $1,235,369. On that occasion, however, just 16 players entered the competition and so Antonius will have to work a little harder this time around if he is to make his way past an estimated 30,000 competitors to claim the €10 million first place prize.
