Neymar Jr "Knockout Poker" Video Goes Viral

PokerStars’ new recreationally friendly game called “Knockout Poker” has just received an enormous marketing boost after Neymar Jr. released a promotional video for the format which has now gone viral. The video is titled “Neymar JR’s Epic Capoeira Football KO Skills,”and naturally shows the soccer star and friends demonstrating a combination of their soccer and Capoeria skills, which is the famous Brazilian martial art that includes elements of dance and acrobatics.
The “Knockout Poker” format that the video is promoting is basically a bounty-style tournament whereby players can either win money by cashing in at one of its paid money place, or alternatively by knocking out one of their fellow opponents from the competition.
PokerStars released the video of its sponsored soccer star in action five days ago, and already it has enjoyed more than 1.1 million views and 100,000 likes on his Facebook page. The video’s popularity should come as no surprise, though, as Neymar’s Facebook account has 56 million plus followers, with his strong social media presence being a major factor in his original endorsement deal with PokerStars.
Furthermore, that number is only set to increase exponentially over the next few weeks with the Copa America kicking-off on June 3rd, followed by the UEFA European Championship on June 10th.
Neymar Jr is part of Team SportStars, along with Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, Fatima Moreira De Melo, and Marcus Hellner. The 24 year-old Brazillian soccer captain landed an endorsement deal with PokerStars last year, and as the former CEO of Amaya, David Baazov, commented at the time:
“As a superstar with one of the world’s most famous football clubs and football nations, his appeal is global. This partnership is a great opportunity to market the game of poker across the globe and attract new fans.”
