Mid-States Poker Tour Signs Matt Kirby and Matt Alexander To Pro Team

Mid-States Poker Tour Signs Matt Kirby and Matt Alexander To Pro TeamThe Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT), which specializes in bringing affordable, quality poker tournaments to the Midwest region, has just announced the addition of Matt Kirby and Matt Alexander to its Pro Team. The two noted players will now join existing member Blake Bohn on the roster, thus bringing together three of the most successful tournament poker pros from the Midwest.
Matt Kirby has earned an impressive $506,456 from live tournaments since his first cash in 2010, the vast majority of which was won in 2012 ($158,384), and 2013 ($338,159). However, May of 2012, marked Matt Kirby’s first MSPT victory after taking down the $1k Northern Lights Casino for $47,070, although by November he then repeated the achievement by winning the MSPT Onamia for a further $46,970.
Overall, Matt Kirby has one of the most impressive records on the Mid-States Poker Tour circuit, boasting six cashes, three final tables, and two titles. Commenting on his remarkable results, explained: “Winning my second MSPT bracelet was quite special. I feel that an average player can run good, play well, catch a couple breaks and take down a tournament, but to win two has only been done by one other player over three years. I feel it speaks to how much my game has grown over the last year or so.”
Joining Matt Kirby on the MSPT Pro Team is Matt Alexander, with $379,275 in live tournament winnings since 2007. The Minneapolis-based pro has 40 tournament cashes and four titles to his name, including victory at the 2010 Heartland Poker Tour Mahnomen for $48,521; and the 2012 Midwest Poker Classic for $47,428.
Furthermore, Matt Alexander’s consistency and aggression has earned him a fierce reputation amongst his competitors, and as his fellow MSPT Team mate Blake Bohn, explains: “Alexander has the ability to accumulate chips like few I’ve ever seen. He is so difficult to play against, always applying pressure.”
All three of the MSPT Pro Team can be seen in action when Season 5 of the popular tour kicks-off in February 2014.
