"Martonas" Makes Surprise Appearance At Full Tilt's High Stakes Game
August 2, 2010 9:12 amEven before Isildur1 appeared at Full Tilt’s high stakes cash scene on Sept 16th 2009, the original mystery maniac “Martonas” had already won over an army of rail birds who would take delight in watching him battle against many of the best players in the world.
His super aggressive style combined with a willingness to take on multiple opponents at $500/$1000 NLHE or PLO, saw players such as Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Gus Hansen, Patrick Antonius, and David Beyamine lining up to take on the mystery Swede who one day showed out of the blue.
In the first half of August 2009, “Martonas” had won almost $2.4 million over just 11,143 hands played. However, his willingness to gamble with his bankroll saw him drop nearly $3 million one day, before recouping $1 million back again.
Eventually his luck turned and by the time he disappeared from Full Tilt’s nose bleed stakes, he was down a massive $2,551,225 but had won over a host of poker fans.
On August 1st 2010, however, “Martonas” showed up once more on the site and started playing a mixture of high stakes games, but mostly concentrating on $100/$200 PLO (6-max), and $200/$400 CAP PLO (6-max).
It wasn’t long before the word got around and rail birds gathered to watch a rare appearance by the mystery Swede.
Even though the fans got to enjoy 12 hours of him in action, “Martonas” was unfortunately unable to end the extended session a winner and eventually walked away stuck around $45k.
It might not have been the result fans were hoping for, but it may signify that “Martonas” is now warming up for another assault on the high stakes game. Whatever the case may be, one thing for sure is that whenever “Martonas” shows up at a table, there’s always going to be a crowd and plenty of action for them to enjoy.
