February 6, 2014 3:34 pmA pioneer in the field of poker theory since 1978, Mike Caro, known as “The Mad Genius of Poker”, has now been named as chief strategist at poker education website AdvancedPokerTraining.com.
Advanced Poker Training is a completely novel concept in online poker education, and has a software program that allows users to play as many as 500 hands an hour against artificially intelligent opponents, whilst receiving advice at every step along the way. Not surprisingly, APT is a leader in adaptive, smart poker training, and boasts more than 6,500 members spread out across 27 countries worldwide.
In his role as APT’s Chief Strategist, the 69 year-old poker pro, poker theorist, and prolific poker book author, will now aid the site to improve the quality and range of its interactive content. Commenting on their new strategist, Steve Blay, Director of Operations for AdvancedPokerTraining, said:
“Mike Caro is the original pioneer in poker theory and computerized poker intelligence. In 1984, he shocked the poker world by demonstrating his poker playing computer program at the World Series of Poker. I couldn’t be more thrilled that he’s chosen to partner with us in continuing to improve our groundbreaking software.”
As well as introducing Orac (Caro spelt backwards) the poker-playing computer to the world in the 1980’s, the poker visionary was also one of the few people in the 1990’s who believed real money poker games would work online. In addition, Mike Caro is the author of a number of poker books, including such notable works as Caro’s Book of Poker Tells, Caro’s Fundamental Secrets of Winning Poker, and Caro’s Most Profitable Hold’em Advice. In honour of his numerous contributions to the poker world over the years , the Californian resident was inducted into the poker players’ Seniors Hall of Fame in 2006.
Commenting on his appointment at AdvancedPokerTraining.com, Caro remarked: “I believe we can take poker training to levels never before imagined, using APT’s online magic. APT has astonished the poker industry, with articles in Bluff and Ante Up magazines chronicling its impact on traditional poker training.”
