Jens "Jeans89" Kyllönen Looking For Challenge Beyond Poker

Finnish pro Jens Kyllönen is one of the game’s most successful players, but after being immersed in the poker world for more than a decade, says he is now ready to seek other challenges beyond poker. High on the 27 year-old’s career choice list is the finance industry, with Kyllönen set on studying for a degree on the subject before possibly starting his own business at some stage in the future.
With that in mind, Kyllönen has already been accepted for an internship in Philadelphia this summer, and discussing his recent decision to change careers, explained:
“I have been thinking lately more and more about the fact that I have been doing this already 10 years. Life is short, so it would be nice to try something different also.”
As well as looking for new challenges, Kyllönen has said that his decision was also partially influenced by a waning poker market that has failed to attract a fresh stream of new players over the past few years. Even so, it doesn’t seem to have affected his bottom line much, and Kyllönen continues to be one of the most consistent players in the game today. He also is one of its most successful, having amassed $5,222,818 playing cash games on PokerStars since 2011 under the screen name “Jeans89”.
Kyllönen is known as one the best Pot-Limit Omaha players in the world, and most of his winnings have come via the variant. He has also taken his skills to the live tournament arena, where he has won a further $2,822,256, including capturing a WSOP bracelet last year at the $25,000 High Roller Pot Limit Omaha event for $1,127,035.
Even if Kyllönen does retire from full-time poker, however, he is unlikely to distance himself completely from the game and there’s a good chance he will still be seen at the odd tournament or online cash game.
