Jason Somerville Signs Partnership Deal With DraftKings

Jason Somerville Signs Partnership Deal With DraftKingsAt a time when sponsorship deals are hard to come by for poker players, Jason Somerville seems to be more in demand than ever before. After his previous site, Ultimate Poker, shut down in Nevada, the 28 year-old pro was soon snapped up by PokerStars before subsequently launching into a 70-day Run It Up (RIU) streaming schedule that has had fans tuning into his jcarverpoker twitch channel in their thousands. Somerville has since signed a 2-year partnership deal with Twitch that will last at least until mid-2017.
In addition to Twitch and PokerStars, Jason Somerville has also caught the attention of another gambling arena, that of daily fantasy sports (DFS), and according to Legal Sports Review has just been signed by one of the industry’s two biggest DFS sites, DraftKings. Interestingly enough, Somerville’s main sponsor, PokerStars, recently acquired DFS operator Victiv, which is currently the joint third biggest DFS site in the US, along with a handful of other sites.
Nevertheless, there is unlikely to be any conflict of interest between PokerStars and Somerville’s new DFS sponsor, as the difference in business between the two biggest sites, DraftKings and FanDuel, and third place is huge. Therefore, the extra publicity PokerStars should attract from having one of its main attractions at DraftKings should prove both a beneficial and smart move all round.
Jason Somerville also has an immensely popular twitter account with 42.4k followers, and over the past 24 hours has mentioned several DraftKings promotions and activities that are taking place. As Sommerville’s last tweet read:
“bam. almost had that gold trophy, still got my biggest DFS score yet tonight on @DraftKings! #dfsdaysaver”
Since turning pro, Jason Somerville has earned $3,520,927 form live tournaments, including capturing a gold bracelet at the 2011 WSOP $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event for $493,091. He has also amasses a further $2,245,196 playing online tournaments under the screen name JCarver.
