James Woods Blocks Vanessa Selbst on Twitter!

If you enjoy a good ‘ole fashion twitter war of words then Vanessa Selbst has provided more than her fair share of ammo over the years. In 2016, for instance Selbst got into a political debate with Doyle Brunson, eventually leading to her labelling the octogenarian and ‘Godfather of Poker’ as “just like the rest of the ignorant masses”. Doyle then asked her to unfollow him, to which Selbst said that she hadn’t followed him “for a long time”.
Last month, Selbst then responded to one of Mike Matusow‘s tweets about Harvey Weistein by calling him a “disgusting, delusional, and downright pathetic human being.” She also said that every tweet he posts was “somehow worse than the last.”
That’s all ancient history now, however, as over the past few days Selbst has now become involved in yet another twitter spat, this time against veteran film actor and poker aficionado James Woods, whom she has branded a “lunatic”. The incident was first instigated shortly after eight people were killed during a terrorist attack in lower Manhattan. As Selbst subsequently tweeted:
“Stop talking about terrorism, it really isn’t a big deal vis a vis actual threats to humans. (Gonna catch some flack for this). #NYCStrong.”
James Woods responded to Selbst’s point that more people die each year from other causes other than terrorism by replying:
“But the underlying strategy of ‘terrorism’ is to create malaise in the emotional well being of a people. It’s not solely a statistical issue.”
Resorting to some type of Ad hominem attack, Selbst responded in the following way:
“Not that I have any interest in engaging with you bc you’re a lunatic, but I’m pretty sure you’re agreeing with me w/o realizing it.”
After which supporters of both Woods and Selbst joined in the foray, lining up to trade insults across both sides of the political divide. These included digs about Wood’s age and Selbst’s political leaning and sexuality, while Daniel Negreanu joined the free for all by calling Woods an “old ass cracker”and “a real piece of sh*t.”
The ultimate result seems to have been that Woods has now blocked Selbst from accessing his Twitter account, with his final tweet on the subject reading:
“Oh, and I find you remarkably more tedious than I expected. So, without further ado… #INSTABLOCK”
