IveyPoker.com Signs James DempseyOnline poker training website IveyPoker.com has just announced the addition of James “Flushy” Dempsey to its team of pros. Dempsey now joins Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, Greg Merson, Jennifer Harman, and Cole South as pro instructors at the new website.
The 30 year-old UK pro started off his professional poker career as an online phenomenon, before making the transition to live tournaments. Dempsey’s list of accolades currently includes $997,494 in online winnings under the name “Flushy,” as well as over $2 million from live play, including a WPT title and victory at the 2010 WSOP $1,500 PLO event for $197,470.
Phil Ivey’s poker training website is still under construction, with 2012 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Merson previously the only pro to have a feature story included on the site. Interestingly, James Dempsey now joins Merson in that honour, under the title “The British are Coming.” As an extract from his story explains:
“He has being playing poker professionally for over 10 years having found the game before the Moneymaker boom..Regularly found playing at any poker tour stop within 20 miles of a golf course. Proficient in holdem and both Omaha and Omaha hi lo.”
Ahead of its launch, many in the poker community are optimistic Phil Ivey will soon reveal many of the skills that have helped make him the best all round poker player in the world today. Visitors who enter IveyPoker.com are greeted with the words; “I want to teach the world how to play better poker. It’d be nice to teach people how to play the correct way.”
Nevertheless, other are more pessimistic about Ivey’s involvement in the project and see his role mainly revolving around adding his name to the website. It is now just a matter of time before we see if and how IveyPoker.com manages to differentiate itself from other
instructional sites out there.
