Isabelle Mercier Becomes Tonybet Ambassador

Isabelle Mercier Becomes Tonybet AmbassadorIsabelle “No Mercy” Mercier, 40, is one of the most recognizable female players in the game today, having amassed $1,216,830 from tournaments over a career stretching back to 2001. Counted amongst her many successes is victory at the 2009 EPT Monte Carlo Charity Event for €260,000 ($341,862), representing her biggest score to date. As well as being adept at no-limit Texas hold ’em, the Canadian pro is also a dab hand at Openface Chinese Poker (OFC), and has a long history with the game dating back to even before it was available to play online.
In fact, it was Mercier’s love affair with the game which eventually lead her to the world’s largest Open Face Chinese poker site, Tonybet Poker. Not surprisingly, her unique talent was soon picked up by the online poker room, and she has now landed a lucrative sponsorship deal promoting the game, as well as the site’s other products. Commenting on her role as Tonybet Poker Ambassador, Mercier expressed her belief that OFC is “the game of the future”, and praised Tonybet Poker for being “totally” innovative and offering this poker variant in both the cash and tournament arena.
Isabelle Mercier says she now looks forward to sharing her passion for the game with the world, so that people “can fall in love” with OFC as much as she did. Elaborating further on what it is about the game which excites her, Mercier explained:
“Personally, since I have discovered OFC, I’m much less inclined to play regular poker, as this new game is so much more exciting! You get to play every hand, you’re always thinking, time goes by without you seeing it! We are very far from a poker table where we play 2-3 hands per round.”
If you are interested in learning more about OFC, you may want to check out part I and II of an article she wrote on the game. You can even put what you learned into practice playing against Mercier in her very own OFC “NoMercy Ride” tournament every Wednesday at Tonybet Poker.
