Felipe ‘Mojave14’ Ramos Signs With PokerStars
July 27, 2015 11:16 amBrazilian pro Felipe Ramos has just signed a sponsorship deal to become the latest member of “Friend of PokerStars”, a friendship which comes with a patch and whose famous former recruits include 2015 November Niner Pierre Neuville. One of Ramos’ first duties will be to represent the site at the upcoming Brazilian Series of Poker Millions (BSOP), where his good friend Neymar Jr, Brazil’s national football captain and PokerStars brand ambassador, will also compete. Following announcement of the sponsorship deal, Neymar Jr commented:
“I’m very happy to see my friend Felipe join the team! We’ve played lots of poker together and I’ve learned a lot from him. Now the world will get to see what I already know – he’s one of the very best.”
Felipe Ramos cashed in at his first tournament in 2008, and since then has amassed $932,498 in live earnings, with his highest score to date being victory at the 2013 Super High Roller Event in São Paulo for $100,000. The pro has also won a further $701,286 playing online under the screen name ‘Mojave14’, of which $538,457 was earned playing at PokerStars. Naturally, Felipe Ramos will continue to ply his trade on the site, and can be seen in action online on September 6th when the site’s World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) kicks off.
Poker has become increasingly popular in Brazil over the past few years, a country which accounts for 200 million of South America’s population of 390 million people. As a result, PokerStars has gone to great lengths to increase its market share in Brazil and as part of its sponsorship of the Latin American Poker Tour often stops in either Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. PokerStars also sponsors a number of Brazilians to represent the site, including soccer players Neymar Jr. and Ronaldo, as well as poker pros Andre Akkari, and Caio ‘pessagno’ Pessagno.
