Doyle Brunson Beats Cancer For Sixth Time

As well as battling many of the world’s best poker players over the years, legendary poker pro Doyle Brunson has also had to continually face his toughest opponent away from the card tables as he contends with a lifelong battle against cancer. In the latest incident, the 82 years old Texan had cancerous skin tissue removed from his face, and following its successful outcome, tweeted:
“Cancer #6 gone. Squamous carcinoma gone bye bye. Just another scar on an already scarred up face.#Mosetreatment #luckyman #tyJesus”
As the 10-times WSOP winner mentioned in his tweet, this was his sixth major brush with a disease which this year is expected to kill around 600,000 people in the US. Brunson’s first encounter with cancer occured back in 1962 when a a tumor was found on his neck, but with all traces of the disease subsequently disappearing after surgery. Since then, Brunson has undergone more than a dozen major operations, and in March 2015 had cancerous skin removed from the top of his head, and this year from his face.
After tweeting the good news via his twitter account, Brunson received an outpouring of congratulations from his twitter followers, including some of the following comments:
