Chad Brown Now In End-of-life Facility
June 30, 2014 1:29 pmBack in 2011, Chad Brown was suffering from a rare form of cancer and had to have a huge 10lb tumour removed from his abdomen. Over the past few years the 52 year-old American actor, poker player and commentator has had to subsequently undergo five surgeries, as well as multiple radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Unfortunately, it now seems Chad Brown’s struggle with cancer has taken a turn for the worse, and as his good friend John Benvenuto, wrote recently:
“[Chad] is now in an end-of-life facility and though his mind wants to continue the fight, the body no longer has any fight left.”
Always a much admired and respected member of the poker playing community, Chad Brown had always tried to maintain a healthy balance in a game noted for its sedentary lifestyle, making the latest news of his illness hard to comprehend by the poker world.
Despite his situation, Chad Brown has continued to remain positive and his good friend Victor Ramdin had these words to say about Chad:
“What can I say about Chad. He is my friend. He’s struggling to fight this thing. He went to Mexico to try some alternative medicine but it didn’t work. Now they have moved him into hospice and they are trying holistic therapies to keep him comfortable and give him more time. He looks different, the cancer has eaten his body but he is still the same Chad. You can see the change in his appearance but he is still so sharp and aware and hopeful.”
Consequently, Chad Brown has continued to post updates regularly via his Facebook and Twitter accounts, which have since been flooded with messages of support from his many friends and colleagues. Here are a few examples of those well wishes:
Doyle Brunson
“Everybody should give an encouraging tweet to @Downtownchad Chad Brown who is in hospice. The nicest guy to ever grace the poker world.#LUV”

“@Downtownchad My thoughts and prayers are with you at this tough time. I am honored to know you. You’re a role model for the poker world.”
