Brunson 10 Welcomes Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis To Team

Brunson 10 Welcomes Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis To TeamDoylesRoom’s quest to find 10 young poker pros to inspire the next generation of legends to rise up and follow in the footsteps of poker legend Doyle Brunson just reached the half way point, after it was announced that Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis has become the team’s latest member.
With over $4 million in online earnings and some impressive cashes in live events, Alex Kamberis will certainly be a valuable addition to the “Brunson 10,” which also includes Zach Clark, Amit Makhija, Chris Moorman and Dani Stern as part of the group.
The 23 year old finance major who lives in Bloomington, Indiana first started playing Texas hold’em in high school but his poker career really got going during his first year of college. After opening an account at PokerStars he started winning with such regularity that he decided to take time away from his studies to see how far he could pursue the game, and before long he got his answer.
In July 2008, Alex came 2nd in the $535 buy-in Full Tilt $750,000 guaranteed tournament for $134,895 and a week later 1st at the $530 buy-in, $150K Weekly on AbsolutePoker for $37,500. By September 2008, he added a further $782,542 to his bankroll after coming in 3rd at the $5200 buy-in, WCOOP Main Event, $10 Million guaranteed on PokerStars and by the end of 2008 had received the 2008 Online Player of the Year award (OPOY) .
By his own account 2009 was a quiet year as he enjoyed the fruits of his success but now says he is ready to re-assert himself once more on the poker scene and is looking forward to putting his skills to work as one of the “Brunson 10,”. As Alex Kamberis explains:
“I was on hiatus last year, taking it easy. This year I’m going to be everywhere though. I’m going to LA after this and Monte Carlo after that. I’m coming back. Online, live everything. I’m going to remind people that I can play.”
Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis can next be seen in action at the $25,000 High Roller Bounty Shootout at the Venetian in Las Vegas, which kicks off on February 23rd and concludes two days later.
