Blom and Ivey Biggest Online Winners and Losers Of 2015

In 2014, Viktor Blom was the third biggest loser of the year with $1,698,911 in losses, while Phil Ivey was the second biggest loser with $2,372,298 in losses. In 2015, however, Viktor “the king of swing” Blom managed to shift polarities once again and amass $2,127,000 in winnings throughout the year to finish atop the online cash game money list. Not so much for Phil Ivey, though, who blew $3,731,000 of his bankroll to finish the biggest online loser of 2015.
Biggest Winner: Blom (+$2,127,000)
In 2015, Viktor Blom earned $3,497,527 after playing 24,9272 hands on PokerStars, which more than offset the $1,367,244 he lost over 69,133 hands at Full Tilt. Viktor Blom now has $2,000,960 in life-time earnings at PokerStars, whereas Full Tilt continues to be a drain on the Swede’s finances, having lost -$4,740,045 there since 2009. Overall, Viktor Blom is currently a -$2,739,085 lifetime loser online.
Biggest Loser: Ivey (-$3,731,000)
On the other side of the coin, Phil Ivey lost $3,731,000 online throughout 2015, including shedding -$2,481,266 over 12,6026 as ‘RaiseOnce’ on PokerStars, as well as a further $1,250,806 over 32,737 hands as ‘Polarizing’ on Full Tilt. Prior to Black-Friday (2011), Ivey was the biggest online cash game winner in the game having amassed $19,242,744 under his own name at Full Tilt. Since then, however, Ivey has seen his all-time profits almost half to $10,441,963, having giving back -$6,317,217 to Full Tilt as Polarizing, and a further -$2,483,564 to PokerStars as RaiseOnce.
And Then There’s Jungleman
Finally, spare a thought for Dan Cates, who in 2014 finished the online game’s biggest winner with $3,437,039 in profits, of which $2,805,751 was won on Full Tilt, and $631,288 on PokerStars. In 2015, however, Cates managed around $500k in winnings, all of which was collected in the last week of 2015. In the meantime, Cates lost $5 million whilst playing in the “Big Game” in Manila. As he tweeted back in August after his massive loss:
“Sooo manila did not go well, only lost about 38m hkd (USD 5m) … Gonna play some 5/10 online and take another shot”
