888poker Signs WSOP November Niner Bruno Politano
August 21, 2014 1:36 pmAt the beginning of this week, 888poker announced the signing of Brazil’s Bruno Politano to its team of Sponsored Pros. The WSOP November Niner is the shortest of the remaining finalists at this year’s $10k Main Event, and when the action restarts at the Rio All-Suite Casino in Las Vegas, Politano will have just 12.125m (30bb) in chips with the blinds resuming at 200k/400k and a 50k ante. Nevertheless, he is likely to have the support of the most boisterous rail at the WSOP with Brazilians fans known for their lively celebrations and turning out in their droves to support their fellow compatriots.
Commenting on the importance he attaches to his supporters, Politano, explained: “My rail is very, very important to me. Without this, I wouldn’t be there. For me, it’s everything. It gives me support in that moment. I promise more than 200 people [in November].”
Making its initial announcement of Politano’s signing via twitter, 888poker, wrote: “Give a warm welcome to our new Ambassador at 888poker, 2014 #WSOP November Niner Bruno @foster18 Politano! Read more: http://ow.ly/ArqQb.”
The 31-year-old amateur player is his country’s first player ever to reach a WSOP Main Event Final Table, an accomplishment which has already ensured him superstar status in his native Brazil. Prior to guaranteeing himself a minimum cash of $730,725 for reaching the ME final, Bruno Politano’s biggest live cash was last October at the Brazilian Series Of Poker Florianopolis, where he eventually finished 3rd for R$105,000 (US$47,493).
However, Bruno Politano’s poker skills must have been honed somewhat by being close friends with a number of Brazil’s most successful pros, including the likes of Andre Akkari, Felipe Ramos, Maria “Maridu” Mayrinck, and Thiago Decano.
Furthermore, Politano will now have the added benefit of joining a highly talented team of pros at 888poker, which includes such players as Sofia Lövgren, Xuan Liu, and JC Tran, as well as fellow Brazillians Nicolau Villa-Lobos and Bruno Kawauti. Following announcement of his sponsorship deal, Bruno Politano, tweeted:
“I’m honored to announce that I’m now part of the #team888 Brazil. @nicolauvl and @brunokawauti we are now Brazilians family #888poker.”
