Phil Ivey Ready To Reveal Secrets Of His Poker Success

Phil Ivey Ready To Reveal Secrets Of His Poker SuccessPhil Ivey is not only probably the best all round poker player in the world today, but he is also one of its most secretive having given away precious little details on what has made him such a success in the game.
However, that may all be about to change after the 35 year-old Las Vegas pro announced that he has launching a new instructional website called IveyPoker.com, dedicated to teaching people the “right way” to play poker. Helping Ivey develop educational programs for the free to join site are his close friends Patrick Antonius and Jennifer Harman. As Ivey explained to  ESPN.com recently:
“I think a lot of people really don’t know how to play poker, and I think this is going to be an opportunity to play with the best players in the world.”
Another pro who will be involved in IveyPoker.com right from the outset will be the 2012 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Merson, who won $8.5 million in Las Vegas last week. Phil Ivey tweeted his support for Merson during the final phase of the competition and even showed up briefly to rail him at the final table. When asked why he had taken such a keen interest in Merson, the 8-times WSOP bracelet winner replied:
“He doesn’t have much of an ego. I think he’s going to be around poker a long time and be very successful — that’s why I chose Greg. He saw an opportunity to be associated with the brand, but really it was me that came after him. It wasn’t like he approached me.”
As mentioned, the site will be free of charge and will include video instruction, and the opportunity to participate in games organized by the site. Furthermore, in his role as coach, Phil Ivey said he will also be offering private lessons.
Not surprisingly, the poker community has already been weighing in on on their opinions concerning Ivey’s new coaching site. Whereas some see it as just another instructional site aiming to cash in in case online poker is legalized in the States, others have expressed far more enthusiasm as to the new project. As forum poster ‘re-donk-raise-fold’ commented on highstakesdb the other day:
“Everything about Ivey is legendary and it all sums up to his ingenious poker game. u might be skeptical about it, but damn…. its gonna change the poker world. calculating odds and stuff is no secret, but crushing every game like Ivey does is a completely different level of thinking.”
