Carbon Poker Makes Return To US Market This Month
August 18, 2011 7:03 amCarbon Poker located on the Australian based Merge Poker Network has just announced it will be reopening its doors to US players before the end of August.
In April after the US Department Of Justice shut down the biggest poker sites operating in their domestic market, the Merge Poker Network suddenly became the beneficiary of a huge inflow of US players.
However, so prolific was the network’s new sign-ups that by June sites such as Carbon Poker and Lock Poker were finding difficulty in coping with the large number of new customers and so it announced it would temporarily stop accepting new American players.
The site’s decision was further compounded by the fact that it was struggling to
efficiently process cashout in a timely fashion, which drew criticism from its customers.
A few months down the line and it would seem that the Merge Poker Network has finally got its house in order and is set once more to reclaim its position as the biggest site to accept new US sign-ups.
In the meantime, that spot has been filled by Bodog and Cake Poker, but with Bodog already announcing it would be leaving the US market at the end of 2011, there will now be even more potential for expansion by the Merge Poker Network.
Poker rooms currently located on the Merge Poker Network include Lock Poker, Carbon Poker, Hero Poker, Poker Host, Iron Duke, and RPM Poker. PlayersOnly and Sportsbook.com from the Cake Network also joined the Merge Poker Network in 2010, with Sportsbook.com already starting to re-accept US players since last week.
The Merge Poker Network is currently the 10th largest poker network on the internet with a seven day average of 1,240 cash game players.
