888.com Named Online Poker Operator Of The YearOn November 25th, the International Gaming Awards honored 888.com with the coveted “Online Poker Operator of the Year” award. The prestigious event, now in its ninth year, took place at the Roundhouse Theater in London and in addition to winning the top online operator award for the second year in a row, 888.com also walked away with the Casino Operator of the Year award for the third time, and the “Operator of the Year” award.
After receiving the accolades in front of a full audience of gaming operators and industry personalities, Itai Pazner, Senior VP of 888.com, said: “This year has been an extremely exciting and successful year for 888 and all of its brands. To win all 3 of the top EGR Operator Awards is an amazing achievement and drives our continuous focus to be the leading global entertainment gaming brand.”
888 Holdings plc was founded in 1997 and has since grown to become a $375 million a year revenue generating business offering casino, poker, bingo and sports betting across 176 countries worldwide. In terms of online poker, according to PokerScout, 888 Poker is the third biggest poker room in the world with a seven-day cash game player average of 2,300, behind PokerStars (23,335) and iPoker (2,625), but ahead of Full Tilt Poker in 4th place (2,160), and PartyPoker in 5th (2,042).
Also collecting an accolade at the International Gaming Awards was London-based company PKR which won the Best Mobile Poker Product category. The company’s latest award is the fourth EGR trophy PKR has won, following on from picking up the 2008 Hotshot of the Year, 2009 Online Campaign of the Year and 2010 Poker Operator of the Year awards. Commenting after its most recent award, PKR’s Chief Operating Officer Leon Walters, said:
“We’ve worked hard to produce a high quality mobile product which will stand the test of time, and recognition by your industry peers is great. It’s also critical that we continue to offer our players the most unique and engaging experience in poker, and that we make progress every year.”
Other companies honored at the ceremony was Unibet ( Marketing Campaign award), bet365 (Sportsbetting Operator and In-play Sports Operator awards), and Paddy Power, which took home three trophies, including Best Financial Betting Product, Best Social Marketing Campaign and the Slots Operator award.
