XL Winter Series returns to 888poker

Big money will be up for grabs at 888poker later this month with the return of the XL Winter Series.
The 2022 XL Winter Series will run from January 16-31. It includes 44 events with a combined guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million. The series should fit all ranges of poker budgets with buy-in ranging from $16.50 to $320. In between there are also events with buy-ins of $22, $33, $55 and $109.
How does XL Winter Series work?
The first day of the XL Winter Series on January has three Opening Events. (Read more here and sign up to play, while earning a generous bonus)
First up is the $100,000 Opening Event. It obviously as a $100,000 prize pool and a $55 buy-in. The second event on the Day 1 schedule is for budget conscious players. It’s the $20,000 Mini Opening and it has a $16.50 buy-in. Closing out Day 1 is the $15,000 Late Opening. It has a $33 buy-in.
The XL Winter Series is an all No-Limit Hold’em affair, but there are a variety of different types of tournaments on the schedule. Some of these include PKO 6-Max, Freezeout, Regular PKO, PKO 8-Max, DeepStack, and Knockout tournaments.
If you’re looking for the high roller tournament on the XL Winter Series schedule you should clear Tuesday, January 25 off your calendar. The most expensive tournament of the series begins that day at 6 p.m. eastern, the $50,000 PKO tournament. It has a hefty $320 buy-in.
There are a pair of Main Events on the XL Winter Series schedule and they both begin on Saturday, January 30. The more affordable Main Event is the Mini Main Event. It has a relatively cheap $33 buy-in and a $50,000 guarantee.
The XL Winter Series Main Event has the largest guarantee of the series at $500,000. The buy-in comes in at $250. If that’s too rich for your blood you’re not necessarily shut out from the Main Event. There are tons of satellite qualifiers for the Main Event which start out as low at one cent.
