The 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event just came up just short of the record for the largest Main Event is WSOP history.

The 2022 WSOP Main Event ended up with an 8,663-player field. That was 110 players less than the record 8,773 entries in the 2006 WSOP Main Event. The near-record field amassed a prize pool of $80,782,475 for the 2022 Main Event.

The top 1,300 players in the tournament will be paid with eight players cashing at least $1 million. The winner of the Main Event will pocket $10 million. This ties the 2019 Main Event for the second largest first place prize. The top Main Event prize is still the $12 million won by Jamie Gold in the 2006 Main Event.

The 2022 Main Event final table with the final nine is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 15. They will play down to four players on July 15, with the final four returning to the table on July 16 when the winner will be crowned.
