Delaware Online Poker Revenues Tumble 73% In December
January 22, 2015 3:20 pmThe Delaware State Lottery has just released its latest figures for December, and the results do not make pleasant reading with online poker revenues plummeting by 9.6% to $28,589 compared to November, and by a massive 73% compared to the $106,922 taken in the same month in 2013. Last month, Delaware Park continued to dominate the First State’s online poker market with revenues of $15,964, followed by Dover Downs ($7,625), and Harrington Raceway ($4,999).
Including casino games, video lottery, and poker, Delaware’s online gambling industry generated a total of $169,606 in December, 8.2% lower than the $184,898 taken in November, while new registrations fell to 256 last month, lower by 17% compared to the 308 players who created new accounts in November.
Delaware’s disappointing iPoker figures highlight the pressing need for the state to enact its interstate compact with Nevada, which would see the 888’s All American Poker Network (AAPN) host all Delaware’s 888 powered sites on the same network as Nevada’s 888 powered WSOP.com. As an 888 statement read at the time:
“We are aiming to deploy a shared poker network across the two states which will offer poker players in each state an enhanced customer experience.”
Almost one year since the Multi State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) was first announced in February, however, and the deal is yet to be enacted. Nevertheless, there now exists greater hope it may soon become a reality after WSOP.com and 888Poker’s All American Poker Network (AAPN) began partially sharing their player pools within the past week or so in the state of New Jersey. If there ever was an indication as to how transformative a process liquidity sharing can be, then a quick glance at online tracking site PokerScout shows WSOP.com has increased its traffic by 50% to 190 cash game players, and 888poker by 75% to 170, in so doing supplanting Party Borgata as New Jersey’s most popular site. Therefore, this recent integration of players can now serve as a successful model for 888poker and WSOP.com to follow in the states of Nevada and Delaware.
