PokerStars Casino Player Wins $1.6M Online Slots Jackpot
March 1, 2018 11:16 amOn Tuesday, 13 February, a Norwegian punter scooped a life changing $1,608,448 payout on PokerStars Casino after playing its online slots product Genie Jackpots. The player called “zetheriver” was gambling for $10 a spin when he hit five Jackpot King symbols, leading to a bonus game in which he then succeeded in unlocking the massive Jackpot King prize.
“When the wheel stopped at the jackpot, I was for a split second sure that the software had frozen. But when the congratulations came up on the screen and the money suddenly was on my PokerStars account, I could not really breathe or believe it. I was so happy,” explained the winner.
This is not the first time that “zetheriver” has enjoyed a huge payday on PokerStars, though, and in 2014 he played the popular $215 buy-in Sunday Million poker tournament, eventually finishing in 4th place for $120,000. All told, “zetheriver” now boasts $228,945 in poker winnings on the site from a total of 436 cashes.
Three years ago, PokerStars started offering casino type gambling products, much to the disapproval of many of its long term poker fans. Even sponsored pro Vicky Coren-Mitchell left Team PokerStars at the time in protest, but zetheriver’s win shows that at least some regular poker players are willing to try their luck at PokerStars Casino.
In fact, PokerStars Casino has since grown to become the biggest online casino in the world in terms of unique active players, with 75% of its enormous poker player base also having played at its casino offering. Furthermore, the site awarded nine million dollar plus jackpots last year, seven of which were on in-house developed slots (Millionaires Island, Stars Mega Spin games), and recently PokerStars was named Gaming Intelligence’s Poker operator of the year.
Commenting upon its first millionaire slots winner of 2018, Matt Cole, Managing Director at Blueprint Gaming, said: “Congratulations to the lucky player, and what an amazing start to the year to win such a life-changing sum of money. Our Jackpot King series continues to offer highly immersive games, and we have plans to add exciting new releases throughout 2018.”
Showing how much PokerStars and pure gambling have become intertwined in recent years, PokerStars sponsored pro Jake Cody won the LIVE UK Poker Championship High Roller for £42,670 ($59,393) on Sunday, before strolling over to the casino’s roulette table and sticking it all on black. Fortunately for him, the ball fell on black 22, with a video of the event having since gone viral.
