Ultimate Bet Bad Beat Jackpot Hit For $670,575
September 9, 2010 7:36 amOne lucky UB player was celebrating her incredible ‘bad luck’ after releasing UB.com’s bad beat jackpot worth a massive $670,575.
The 60 year-old online poker player from Texas, known as KAPPIT, was playing at one of UB’s $0.25/0.50 NL Hold ‘em tables at 17:51 ET on Tuesday, with $36.95 in front of her when she was dealt a pair of 9’s in the small blind.
Her opponent, going by the name of CJBV, just limped under the gun with a pair of Q’s hoping for a raise. However, only the blinds completed the round and took in the 8d-9c-9s flop.
KAPPIT checked her quad 9’s, and BPARKY01 in the big blind also checked until CJBV raised to $2.50, KAPPIT called and BPARKY folded.
With a Qs on the turn, KAPPIT check-called her opponent’s $6.50 bet and then led out herself with a $33.29 shove on the river when a Qc fell.
CJBV called instantly with his quad Q’s to take down the $80 pot but it wasn’t long before the UB graphics let the players around the table know what the real stakes entailed.
The winner of the hand collected an impressive $109,057.85 for his four Q’s, while $218,115.71 was awarded to KAPPIT for the indignity of having her quad 9’s cracked. In addition, the seven fellow players around the table received nearly $1,000 each, while 610 other players on UB received $89.36 a piece simply for happening to be playing at the same limit at the same time.
Commenting on her incredible win, KAPPIT said:
“I’ve been playing Poker for 45 years now. Mostly live poker of course. I hit a jackpot once in a land-based Casino but this is the biggest prize I’ve ever got. I couldn’t believe I was the winner and actually I didn’t realize I hit the jackpot immediately, it took me some time but when it happened I was really really excited.”
“Wow…Hats off to UB Poker. It was “SO” my lucky day to capture the bad beat jackpot. Looks like our dream of trading off our 1995 truck will finally happen. ( And a big screen t.v..) Keep those jackpots coming UB…Dreams do come true…”
