Sam Trickett Scores Hat-trick At British Poker AwardsOn Monday, the British Poker Awards were held in London with 17 awards distributed in a range of categories honouring players and organizers alike.
However, one player standing out after picking-up a hat-trick of awards was  Sam Trickett, with the 26 year old voted for as the UK’s Best Cash Player, Best Tournament Player and Player of the Year. This year alone, Trickett has won a staggering $11,166,185 from live tournaments, including a 2nd place finish at the $1 million WSOP One Drop for $10.1 million, elevating his life time tournament earnings to a massive $17,470,28. In addition, Trickett has become a regular at the Macau Big Game, where he is reputed to have earned millions playing cash games, with his biggest winning session said to have been worth HKD $15 million ($1.93m).
After receiving the UK awards, Sam Trickett took to his twitter account to thank those people who voted for him, and wrote: “Won best cash player/best tourney player and Player of the Year!!! Thanks to everyone for all ur support! Ur all legends.”
Another recipient of the British Poker Awards was Chris Moorman, whose is as consistent a winner at the award ceremony as he is online, having taken down the Best Online Player award for the third year in a row. The 27 year old known as “moorman1” online has now amassed $8,215,519 playing tournaments online, to go with his $2,700,162 earned in the live arena.
It was also a good night for the PokerStars pros with Liv Boeree (Poker Personality of the Year), Vanessa Selbst (International Player of the Year), Kirsty Thompson from UKIPT (Best UK Tournament) and Toby Stone (Best Tournament Director) all picking-up awards.
