PokerStars Become Sponsor Of Spanish National Basketball
June 21, 2010 12:41 pmPokerStars has announced it will be entering into a year long sponsorship deal with the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), after an agreement was reached between the president of Federación Española de Baloncesto (FEB) and the online poker giant.
The deal was reached with impeccable timing as PokerStars will now be able to benefit from maximum exposure ahead of the 2010 FIBA World Championship, which starts on August 28th in Turkey.
Spain’s national basketball team lies just below the USA and Argentina in the official world rankings, and the upcoming World Championship is expected to draw in a huge amount of viewers as Spain looks to progress beyond a tough group, which includes Canada, France, Lebanon, Lithuania and New Zealand.
Commenting on the latest deal FEB president José Luis Sáez said:
“We are very pleased to join forces with a company which is leading in its sector and which decides to bet on our sport, a company which is known for innovation and the sports aspect of poker, and which has demonstrated an impressive capacity for promotion and broadcasting.”
As well as PokerStars benefiting from the international attention from the competition, PokerStars customers will now be able to try their luck at winning tickets to the prestigious event by entering various tournaments, including free-rolls, held on the site,
PokerStars’ representative in Spain, Juanjo Márquez, echoed the FEB’s sentiment, and said:
“Our client PokerStars is very proud to become sponsor of the Federación Española de Baloncesto. Being a global brand, this is a significant opportunity to join a leading sport. PokerStars sponsors numerous teams and sportsmen of international standing and being able to co-operate with the World and European champion is an exciting project by which to convey values like excellence, competition and fair play”.
