Neymar Jr Too Young For PokerStars UK Ad Campaign

Neymar Jr Too Young For PokerStars UK Ad Campaign Soccer legend Neymar Jr has an estimated fortune of $31 million, and recently the Brazilian has been featured in PokerStars’ Dream Team Collection marketing campaign, alongside Ronaldo Nazari and Christiano Ronaldo. However, PokerStars has now been forced to remove Neymar Jr from the UK part of its promotion as he is under the age permissible for someone to advertise gambling products. Interestingly, in the UK a person can get married at 16, drink alcohol and gamble at 18, but as stated on the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) website:
“No one who is, or seems to be, under 25 years old may be featured gambling or playing a significant role.”
As a result, PokerStars has informed its affiliates to stop using the FC Barcelona striker in any of its UK-facing adverts, and in the meantime Daniel Negreanu has now taken his place in the Dream Team Collection promotion. The marketing campaign runs through to September 17th and is the largest ever undertaken by PokerStars, with players given the chance to enter a series of freerolls named Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo Nazario, and now Daniel Negreanu in the UK. Players at one of the tables will subsequently be chosen at random, and given a gold ticket to enter the PokerStars Dream Team Collection Freeroll Final on Sep 18th, where the lucky winner will receive a huge $1 million prize, in addition to a signed shirt from one of the soccer stars.
Neymar Jr no longer being a part of the promotion will be a big set back for PokerStars, though, as he is one of the most recognizable soccer players on the planet, and a social media phenomena with 19.6 million Twitter fans, 30.3 million followers on Instagram, and 53.6 million likes on Facebook. Neymar Jr also tasted a bit of poker success recently, after playing on PokerStars.es and making a Royal Flush on his way to a €50 Super Stack tournament final table. In poker, the chances of making such a hand is a whopping 30,939 to 1, and Neymar was rewarded with €17,810 for the deed.
