Negreanu Attacks Annie Duke And Lederer In Hall of Shame Tirade
October 11, 2011 8:15 amThe long running feud between Daniel Negreanu, 37, on the one side, and siblings Annie Duke, 46, and Howard Lederer, 47, on the other is showing no signs of abating after the tenacious Canadian pro let lose another tirade of abuse aimed at the poker duo.
In his latest installment of comments aimed at Duke, Negreanu questioned the validity of putting her name forward as a candidate for the 2011 Poker Hall Of Fame and said:
“For what? Robbing people at UB? Owing Russ Hamilton money and never paying him back? For stealing money from people at the poker table? For representing poker in the worst light imaginable when she was on Celebrity Apprentice? For all those things then yes.”
Wasting no time to bring Full Tilt Poker board member Howard Lederer into the quarrel, Negreanu then added:
“If you took out the “F” and added an “Sh” in the word fame then yes, I think she should be inducted. Along with her brother, the Lederer family would be the king and queen of the poker Hall of Shame.”
The long running feud between Negreanu and Annie Duke dates back as far as the 1990’s, with their first meetings at a poker table, and has continued ever since. Back then Negreanu even wrote a flattering article about Duke in which he listed her as the 6th best player in the $500/$1,000 Limit game at Bellagio at the time.
Things soon soured, however, and in 2002 Negreanu made his thoughts on Duke known, describing her as a so-called expert who acted like a bully. He then went on to accuse her of ridiculing him from when they first met, and said she would frequently criticize his play and refer to him as “cupboy.”
Since then the sparks have been flying with Howard Lederer accusing Negreanu of being an unashamedly whinging attention seeker, as well as “a mean and vindictive person” involved in a “smear campaign” against his sister.
Over the years, Negreanu has frequently referred to Annie Duke as “Annie Puke” and taking his attacks to a new level in August, 2010, Negreanu called her a “f***ing c***.”
With the new Poker Hall Of Fame members being announced next month, heaven only knows how Daniel will react if Annie Duke actually is honored with a place in the pantheon of poker legends.
